Rettich Sweeps Brainerd Doubleheader

Scott Rettich, of Camden, Ohio, thoroughly dominated the SCCA Pro Racing Pro Spec Racer Ford Series proceedings at Brainerd International Raceway this weekend (September 3-4), en route to becoming the first driver this season to sweep both races of a doubleheader weekend.

Rettich piloted the No. 17 Alliance Autosport/Springboro Car Wash SRF to a pair of flag-to-flag victories, finishing 5.354 seconds ahead of Brian Schofield, from Lakeland, Fla., on Saturday and 15.472 seconds ahead of Schofield on Sunday. Rettich started both races from the pole position. Both Schofield and his PM racing teammate Jean-Luc Liverato were racing cars rented from Liddell Motorsports.

“They were great races,” Rettich said. “I’ve got to thank my team. Alliance Autosport gave me an incredible car all weekend, a great setup. I’ve got to thank my parents and all my sponsors: PDI Communications, Springboro Car Wash, Goodyear Tires and Red Line Oil. It was just a great weekend for us.”
The pair of runner-up results in the No. 31 PM Racing SRF was more than enough to keep Schofield atop the championship standings with one more doubleheader of racing still on the schedule at Road Atlanta on the weekend of November 4-6. Schofield leads Rettich by 173 points, 943-770.

Liverato, of Alpharetta, Ga., finished third in both races in the No. 33 Expanded Techologies/8-Ball Racing/PM Racing machine and Matt Gray, of Chaska, Minn., was fourth in both events in the No. 64 Ryan Companies US Inc. SRF.

Tim Gray, of Minneapolis, Minn., was fifth on Saturday in the No. 60 Ryan Companies US Inc. entry, and Richard Wiehl, of Bridgewater, Conn., rounded out the top-five on Sunday in the No. 24 CITGO machine.

The 2011 edition of the SCCA Pro Racing Pro Spec Racer Ford Series concludes on November 5-6, with Rounds Nine and Ten at Road Atlanta.
