Rettich Recognized as Star Performer During Mid-Ohio ALMS Broadcast
Spec car racing stalwart Scott Rettich was recognized this weekend as the SCCA “Star Performer” during the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron broadcast from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on ESPN2 and ESPN3.com.
Rettich, of Camden, Ohio, has blistered both the SCCA Club Racing and SCCA Pro Racing circuits in 2011, both in the Spec Racer Ford and Formula Enterprises classes. He has won 12 of the 15 races in the SafeRacer SCCA National Racing series and currently leads both highly-competitive classes in the National point standings and Great Lakes Division point standings. The 2010 Formula Enterprises National Champion also swept the FE and SRF class wins at the BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour event at Mid-Ohio in June, and topped the season-ending Super Tour point standings for both classes.
Rettich also competes in the SCCA Pro Racing Formula Enterprises Pro and Spec Racer Ford Pro series, and led both Championships prior to missing this past weekend’s SRF Pro races in Canada. Rettich is the defending SCCA Pro Racing Spec Racer Ford Pro Series Champion, and was runner-up in the FE Pro series in 2010 as well.
The SCCA Star Performer is selected by a panel of judges, based on recent efforts in SCCA’s national Club Racing, Solo and Rally programs. The recipient will be someone who shined above the rest, epitomizing the passion, effort and success within their performance. As part of its new partnership with the American Le Mans Series, one SCCA member will be honored in each American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron television broadcast.
