Rettich Goes Flag-to-Flag at Mosport

Scott Rettich remains undefeated in SCCA Pro Racing Formula Enterprises Series action, scoring the Round Three win on Saturday morning (May 21) at Mosport International Raceway. Standing alongside the Alliance Autosport driver on the post-race podium were JAY Motorsports teammates Patrick Gallagher and Matt Schneider.

In ideally sunny and warm conditions, race one of the Mosport doubleheader got underway with Rettich and fellow front-row starter Gallagher leading the field to the green flag. Getting a good launch when the flag waved, Rettich held off the challenges of Gallagher and Schneider. Attacking the high-speed road course right from the get go, Rettich was able to build a multi-car advantage on Gallagher, who in turn established an gap on Schneider and fellow JAY Motorsports racer Eric Fagan, who were dueling for the final podium position.

Behind the leaders, attention was focused on JAY Motorsports Jason Wolfe, who was charging through the field, having started at the back after switching car in qualifying. Also keeping the fans entertained were spirited battles for position between Rackley Motorsports’ Lee Rackley and JAY Motorsports’ Jim Libecco, and Work Racing’s Shaun Miller, Comprent Motor Sports’ Tilden Kinlaw and PRL Motorsports’ Patrick Linn.

Just as Wolfe had worked his way into the fight for third place, the yellow flags waved for an incident involving Rackley and Libecco in turn five, ending both racers day.

Upon clearing the track, the chase for the Round Three win resumed with Rettich again holding off a first turn challenge from Gallagher. Behind the duo, Wolfe got the best run when the green flag re-emerged, taking over third place ahead of Schneider and Fagan.

In a repeat of the initial start, it was not long before Rettich had pulled away from Gallagher, who likewise was separating himself from the three-car fight for third between Wolfe, Schneider and Fagan.

As the 20-race approached its conclusion, the best dices for position were between Wolfe and Schneider for third, Miller and Kinlaw going after sixth place.
